America Ortiz is a first-generation student majoring in Sociology. America’s passion for community service motivates her to pursue this field. America also enjoys trying new foods, practicing self-care, spending time in nature, and shopping. Although transferring from Oxnard College in Southern California will be a significant transition, America is excited to embrace new experiences and personal growth!

Ana is originally from Tijuana, Mexico, and was raised in both San Diego and Tijuana in the border area of South California. As a first-generation student and Latina, Ana is super excited to start her next journey at UC Berkeley. She enjoys swimming, listening to music, hiking, and journaling with coffee or tea during her free time. As a transfer student and Sociology major, Ana eventually aims to support students through completing a graduate degree in counseling.

Ariana is from the Central Coast in California and is very excited to be attending UC Berkeley! Outside of classes, she loves to write, travel, sing, cook, and try new things. She has traveled to places as close as Seattle and as far as Austria! Ariana hopes to improve the quality of education in systematically underrecognized areas and seek justice for her community through law, literature, and legislation.

Diana is a first generation student planning on majoring in Political Science or Legal Studies with a minor in Psychology. Diana is motivated to pursue this field because of the lack of justice served in marginalized communities and a desire to support in this issue. Diana’s hobbies include painting, shopping, going to the gym, playing soccer, thrifting and being in nature. Diana is excited to transition from a smaller city in central coast to a very large city in the bay.
