Eligibility

Be an incoming UC Berkeley freshman or transfer undergraduate student

Be in good academic standing and have demonstrated financial need

Have a demonstrated interest in the areas of public service, democracy, and social change

Have an intended major in the College of Engineering or the College of Letters & Science Social Sciences Division as indicated on your UC Berkeley undergraduate application
Selection
Yardi Scholars are chosen annually from the incoming class of undergraduate students. Prospective Yardi Scholars are identified, screened, and selected by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office as part of the consideration process for the Regents’ and Chancellors’ Scholarship. There is no separate application for the Yardi Scholarship—all students who apply to UC Berkeley and meet the eligibility requirements are automatically considered for the program.

Late February/Early March: Faculty interviews and consideration for the Regents’ and Chancellors’ Scholarship takes place for freshman candidates. Candidates are evaluated for the Yardi Scholarship during this process.

Late March: Award decisions are released for freshmen recipients of the Regents’ and Chancellors’ Scholarship. Students selected for the Yardi Scholarship will be notified via this award decision.

May 1: Freshman deadline to accept UC Berkeley offer of admission and scholarship awards.

Early May: Transfer candidates are considered for the Regents’ and Chancellors’ Scholarship. Candidates are evaluated for the Yardi Scholarship during this process.
